MBSR Program Details

Throughout the program you will be consciously and systematically working with the challenges and demands of your everyday life. A safe and supportive environment for this work and learning will be created through:

  • Guided instruction in mindfulness meditation practices

  • Gentle stretching and mindful yoga

  • Group discussions aimed at enhancing awareness in everyday life

  • Systematic instruction in formal MBSR meditation practices

  • Online class materials, resources and video conferencing

Course Structure and Commitment

  • Orientation (required for enrollment)

  • Eight weekly classes, 2 1/2 hours each 

  • One Extended, 6 hour class on a Saturday, between classes 6 and 7

  • Daily home practice assignments for 45-60 minutes each day

  • You must be willing to make a strong commitment to attend all classes and to practice daily home assignments for eight weeks. The classes will be recorded; if you are unable to attend your regularly scheduled class, you will be given access to the recorded class.

Technology Requirements

  • A high-speed internet connection, a laptop or a desktop computer with a speaker, microphone and video capabilities.  No tablets or phones.

  • We will use the Zoom™ video conference platform which has minimum requirements to work properly.

Free Orientation (Online)

The first step in this MBSR Program is participating in an Orientation Session before the start of classes. Attending an Orientation Session, online, is required of all participants before beginning the program. During the orientation, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Learn more about the program, ask questions and explore whether the program is right for you

  • Meet your program instructor

  • Experience first-hand, mindfulness methods and approaches you will be learning during the program

Extended Class (Online)

The extended class is held between weeks six and seven of the 8-week program. The intensive nature of this 6 hour session is intended to assist you in firmly and effectively establishing the use of MBSR skills across multiple situations in your life, while preparing you to use mindfulness far beyond the conclusion of this program.  Having established a daily mindfulness practice during the previous 6 weeks, you will be prepared to benefit from this class.
